  1. use melted butter instead of oil or chilled butter
  2. Add a box of pudding mix and an extra egg
  3. hi
to mak gud choclate cakes put sum chocsyrup and when u use buter cream the buter first that means tak buter and on ur granite slab rub it til it melts and beomes fluffy
  4. Two key ingredients I took from Alton Brown on Food TV - instead of regular flour, use bread flour. It will keep softness for longer - think of bread. Also - instead of regular sugar or light brown sugar - use dark brown sugar to replace some of it - this will again keep it moist and chewy. I have replaced these ingredients (white flour, white sugar) with the other ingredients (bread flour, dark brown sugar) in my chocolate chip cookies and let me tell you - they stay CHEWY and SOFT for over two weeks!!! If they last that long!
  5. Dont over mix and don't overbake. Mix until combined, but still lumpy, and then try baking only until lightly brown. Then allow to sit for about 2 minutes before removing from the pan, and they should be perfect every time. If theyre over cooking for a certain amount of time you are told to cook them, try taking them out of the oven 2 minutes earlier. You'll get it right eventually.
  6. substitute applesauce for milk, do not over cook--check with a tooth pick, if there are still a few crumbs on it from sticking in the middle get it out of the oven. Frosting is easy, use the flavored powdered sugar and butter and a little vanilla and softened cream cheese. Check out the recipes on the sugar.
  7. Sugar makes cakes soft and moist. Add a half cup extra to the recipe. Don't over bake the cakes. On the left side of the pond we call them brownies. Check the recipe sites (foodtv.com, epicurious.com) for chewy brownie recipes.

    Butter will make them crispy.
  8. try the recipe on thae back of the Hershey's cocoa can (the baking cocoa)
You will not be disappointed. It is so easy and at the end calls for a cup of boiling water -which makes it super moist. Also, make sure you check your cakes with a toothpick -don't overbake!!!
Also, the frosting recipe that goes along with it is easy and delicious. I use a handmixer when I make this cake.
